UNDER THE OLD COVENANT:
Judah has dealt treacherously and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah has profaned the holiness of Jehovah which He loved and has married the daughter of a strange god.
Jehovah will cut off the man that does this, the master and the scholar, ... and him that offers an offering unto Jehovah of Hosts. Malachi 2:11-12
Jehovah said unto the children of Israel, “You shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for they will surely turn your heart away after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love.... and his wives turned away his heart. 1 Kings 11:2-3b
... Shechaniah the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, answered and said unto Ezra, “We have trespassed against our God and have taken strange wives of the people of the land ... Now therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives and such as are born of them according to the counsel of my lord, and of those that tremble at the commandment of our God. And let it be done according to the law.” Ezra 10:2-3 ... And Ezra the priest stood up and said to them, “You have sinned and taken strange wives ... Now therefore make confession unto Jehovah, God of your fathers, and do His pleasure: Separate yourselves from the people of the land and from the strange wives.” Ezra 10:10-11
And they made an end with all the men that had taken strange wives by the first day of the first month. Ezra 10:16a-17
UNDER THE NEW COVENANT
... Unto the married Jehovah commands (not I), “Let the wife not depart from her husband. But if she departs, let her remain unmarried or reconciled to her husband: And don’t let the husband put away his wife.” 1 Corin. 7:10-11
...To the rest I speak (not the Lord). if any brother has a wife that doesn’t believe and she’s pleased to dwell with him, let him not leave her. And the woman that has a husband that doesn’t believe, but he’s pleased to stay with, let her not leave him.
However; if the unbeliever departs, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such case, but God has called us to peace. 1 Corin 7:12-13,15
Marriage is honorable in all and the bed undefiled: but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. Hebrews 13:4
